Broomball League Begins at Seventeen!

Seventeen has started a new Broomball league!  Located in Bay Harbor’s village on the grounds in front of Seventeen restaurant. Broomball started in the early 1900’s as a working man’s sport played with broom sticks and in any open field in the winter time. Thursday nights at 6pm, beginning December 4, 2014, you can watch as 5 teams battle it out on the field the 'old fashioned' way with broom sticks! Spectators are always welcome to cheer on teams from Sotheby’s Realty, Propellers, Inn at Bay Harbor, Threads, and of course Seventeen. You might choose to watch from inside the lounge or dining room though, sitting by the fireplace and listening to live entertainment. You can be sure of a spectacular view of the marina harbor and broomball matches taking place.

SEVENTEEN, LOU METTLER’S NEW GREAT AMERICAN RESTAURANT OVERLOOKING BAY HARBOR’S SPECTACULAR WATERFRONT

Classic American Cuisine, Sophisticated Setting, Impeccable Service to Delight Discerning Diners

BAY HARBOR, MICHIGAN Seventeen, the highly anticipated new restaurant from Bay Harbor’s iconic clothier, trend-spotter and favorite son Lou Mettler, is poised to become an instant classic in the exclusive northern Michigan resort community. The newest epicurean addition to the Village of Bay Harbor, opened on July 2, 2014 celebrates the good life with fresh, local, Americana-inspired fare served in a comfortable yet sophisticated setting where guests will feel right at home during an evening out with family and friends.

The innovative menu, crafted by Executive Chef/General Manager and Michigan native Eric Basta, places a uniquely modern twist on traditional American fare. Seventeen’s signature American Wagyu beef burger is topped with horseradish cheddar, local Plath’s bacon and a fried farm fresh egg. Wild blue Maine mussels are sautéed in a light curry, lemongrass and coconut milk broth. Tagliatelle pasta tossed in fresh ramp pesto is served with heirloom tomatoes, basil, black garlic and English peas. Caramelized sweet cippolini onions adorn the restaurant’s 14-ounce prime New York strip steak. Patrons perusing Seventeen’s expansive menu will savor the originality and inventiveness of its soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees. The bar is envisioned to be a gathering spot where residents and visitors alike can go to tell stories, swap ideas, whet their whistle, make new acquaintances and simply enjoy the company of others.

The restaurant’s renovated, redesigned space is classic Mettler. The décor is comprised of rich brown leathers, warm neutral tones and distinct black, with historical elements of America’s equestrian heritage. From elegant stable paintings, equine memorabilia and handsome furniture steeped in tradition, the warm, feel-at-home atmosphere sets the tone for total comfort and relaxation. An adjoining retail space featuring Mettlers Made in America apparel as well as home accents and accessories offers a perfect place to browse and shop.

“In my extensive travels throughout my life, I have never seen a more beautiful waterfront than Bay Harbor,” said Mettler. “I knew in my heart that this was the perfect spot to create a one of a kind restaurant offering fine food and beverages in addition to promoting local products and contributing to the community and its economy.”

Mettler named the restaurant after his lucky number 17. His passion for and commitment to America, which is also symbolized by the year 1776, made Seventeen the ideal moniker for his new establishment.

For more than 40 years, Mettler's inventive retail concepts and sophisticated style have inspired some of the world's most successful clothing brands. He is one of the founding partners of Tommy Bahama and a former retail partner of Polo Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss and Joseph Aboud. Mettler has long touted American-made, sophisticated, comfortable sportswear as well as lifestyle and home décor items in his Mettlers American Mercantile stores. He continues to travel the country in pursuit of American-made quality products.

Seventeen, located at 795 Front Street within Village of Bay Harbor, is open Tuesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for lunch, dinner, as well as brunch on Sundays. Patio dining is available in the peak season. For additional information, visit www.SeventeenRestaurant.com or call 231.347.1717.
